– Rap Genius

What is Rap Genius? “Rap Genius is your guide to the meaning of rap lyrics (basically the internet version of the nerd-ass “rap dictionary” dorm-mate you had in college). You can listen to songs, read their lyrics, and click the lines that interest you for pop-up explanations – we have thousands of canonical rap songs explained (2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z – even the beginning of the Torah..) Our aim is not to translate rap into “nerdspeak”, but rather to critique rap as poetry.”

– Jordyn Michele Waterstone

"My name is Jordyn, you can call me Waterstone; I’m young, broke and reckless but have a zeal for creating splendor out of scratch. Along with my obsessions for leather, fringe & fur, comes my forever admiration for studs & embellishments. Once upon a time Studs were associated with eye-candy men, horses and the world of punk & rock Gods... Now a days we’ve taken the fashion of studding to a whole new meaning… giving edge to ladies & gents all around the world, like a silent armor we’ve embraced these little beauties as hearts on our sleeve, diamonds in our pocket, healed wounds from our battles and strength from our experiences. Somewhat Like a bulletproof vest, I believe it’s the quiet but evident way to show our unique boldness. Make your mark on anything from Denim to leather, shoes to bags, Chanel to flee market clothing – it’s the perfect way to tattoo your style with true. Loathe it or adore it. Stud you. Stud me. Stud WE. Xoxo"

– Tha A Side

"Tha A Side chronicles my journey as I feel my way around this somewhat infamous underground known as the Detroit —well, Michigan— music scene. When people speak of Detroit in relation to music, they often speak in past tense. Detroit used to be the music capital of the world. Motown isn’t what it used to be. There aren’t any good artists in the city anymore. Well, as I’ve come to learn, those statements couldn’t be further from the truth. When I started Tha A Side in 2009, I had no idea it would be my own city’s roots that would make me fall back in love with a culture many have given up on. This blog is dedicated to showcasing the things I’ve come to learn and love about this scene through video, audio, interviews and much more."
